Meditation: a revolution in the brain

Sit comfortably, close your eyes and focus your attention on the breath. This is the principle of mindfulness meditation that is becoming more and more performed in France. An ancestral practice brought back to the style of the day and at the origin of a medical revolution.

Able to change the way our brain works, meditation is a therapy in its own. In the hospital, it is used in the accompaniment of chronic pain, to fight against depression or to better tolerate cancer treatments.

Still unknown to the public 15 years ago, meditation has become a real social phenomenon. Conferences, books, mobile applications, she has conquered millions of French people. Because it would be a very effective protection against stress and its toxic effects on health.

Even more surprising, meditation could act as a real makeover. The researchers proved that his regular practice could delay the effects of cerebral aging. A hope to prevent certain neurodegenerative pathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease.

How does this brain gymnastics work? What are its effects on health? And can we hope to live better and longer while meditating?

The documentary directed by Alexandra Combe will be followed by a debate moderated by Michel Cymes, Marina Carrère-d’Encausse and Benoît Thevenet.
