Dr. Dehay interviewed by “Le Monde”

Dr. Benjamin Dehay was interviewed by the newspaper “Le Monde” to comment on the 2016 Medicine Nobel Prize awarded to the Japanese Pr. Yoshinori Ohsumi for his work on the Autophagy.

Autophagy is a biological process used by the cell to be healthy. Autophagy allows the elimination of waste present inside the cell (pathogenic macromolecules / damaged organelles) and recycling. Many diseases are associated with dysfunction of autophagy, such as neurodegenerative diseases (eg allowing the accumulation of protein aggregates), cancer, or cardiovascular disease, autoimmune or infectious.
